چکیده

Plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) are important pests that cause an estimated ten billion dollars of crop loss each year in the United States and over 100 globally. The Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) within U.S. Department Agriculture maintains updates Regulated Pest list. Currently, number PPNs regulated by APHIS includes more than 60 different species. This review focuses on top most economically emerging plant-parasitic summarizes diagnostics morphological some molecular features for distinguishing them. These major previously described nematode species associated with various crops from around world. also their current distribution a brief historical background updated systematic position these included this include three considered as invasive invertebrates Globodera pallida, rostochiensis, Heterodera glycines; four PPNs, namely Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, Meloidogyne fallax, Ditylenchus dipsaci, Pratylenchus fallax; chitwoodi, enterolobii, Litylenchus crenatae mccannii.

Top 10 plant-parasitic nematodes in molecular plant pathology.

The aim of this review was to undertake a survey of researchers working with plant-parasitic nematodes in order to determine a 'top 10' list of these pathogens based on scientific and economic importance. Any such list will not be definitive as economic importance will vary depending on the region of the world in which a researcher is based. However, care was taken to include researchers from a...

Benomyl Tolerance of Ten Fungi Antagonistic to Plant-parasitic Nematodes.

Ten strains of fungi were tested for tolerance to the fungicide benomyl. Verticillium chlamydosporium strain 2 did not grow in the presence of benomyl; Drechraeria coniospora strains 1 and 2 and Chaetomium sp. tolerated only 0.1 mug benomyl/ml medium; Acremonium bacillisporum, an unidentified fungus, and Phoma chrysanthemicola uniformly grew at 1 mug/ml, but some hyphae grew at higher benomyl c...

Hybridization and polyploidy enable genomic plasticity without sex in the most devastating plant-parasitic nematodes

Root-knot nematodes (genus Meloidogyne) exhibit a diversity of reproductive modes ranging from obligatory sexual to fully asexual reproduction. Intriguingly, the most widespread and devastating species to global agriculture are those that reproduce asexually, without meiosis. To disentangle this surprising parasitic success despite the absence of sex and genetic exchanges, we have sequenced and...

The absence of toxin production by either S.feltiae strain or bacterial types in a culture medium similar to the host's hemolymph has been reported (5,6). ...

Atomic force microscopy of plant-parasitic nematodes.

A simple method for atomic force microscopy (AFM) of nematode cuticle was developed to visualize the external topography of Helicotylenchus lobus, Meloidogyne javanica, M. incognita, and Xiphinema diversicaudatum. Endospores of two isolates of the nematode parasite, Pasteuria penetrans, adhering to M. incognita and X. diversicaudatum were also visualized and measured by this technique. Scanning...
